Witches' Cell

Closed from August 22!

The Castle in Szczecin and the Ducal Family are connected with the history of Sidonia von Borcke who was accused of witchcraft and condemned to death in 1620. Legend has it, she allegedly put a curse on the Ducal Family. The Dynasty began to be afraid that they would come to an end due to subsequent, premature deaths of Pomeranian Dukes who died childless.

The fate of Sidonia von Borcke is brought closer to the visitors through the holographic projection and replicas of the 16th and 17th-century punishment and torture instruments presented in the exhibition room.

The exhibition is enriched by a series of works by Andrzej Maciejewski, which is a contemporary interpretation of the history of the noblewoman accused of witchcraft.
